Teaching experience
I, Anju Biju, completed my B.Ed internship at SGHS Muthalakodam from June to October as part of my teacher training programme. The internship provided me with valuable practical experience in handling real classroom situations and understanding the responsibilities of a teacher. It helped me bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge gained in college and actual teaching practice in a school environment.
During my internship, I taught Physics and Chemistry to students of 8th and 9th standard. I prepared detailed lesson plans and used various teaching methods such as demonstration, discussion, question–answer, and activity-based learning to make the classes more engaging and effective. While teaching scientific concepts, I tried to relate the topics to real-life situations so that students could understand them easily and develop interest in the subject.
The internship period also helped me improve my classroom management and communication skills. I learned how to maintain discipline, encourage student participation, and address the different learning needs of students. I conducted oral questioning, class tests, and assignments to evaluate students’ understanding and provide necessary guidance for improvement.
Overall, my teaching experience at SGHS Muthalakodam was highly enriching and rewarding. It strengthened my confidence as a teacher and enhanced my professional skills. This internship has prepared me to take up future teaching responsibilities with dedication, patience, and commitment.
